RAW Nashville’s Launch Party & Official Meet & Greet: January 15, 2011

I recently became aware of RAW when they friended me on Facebook, and I have to say, it looks like a pretty cool concept. As written on their Facebook profile, "RAW is an eclectic monthly showcase featuring independent, artistic talent: film, fashion, music and DJ, art, makeup, hair design & performing art". And on Saturday, January 15, 2011, RAW Nashville will be hosting their launch party and official meet & greet from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Mercy Lounge. Here is the information regarding the event as detailed in their Facebook invite:

OUR PLAN: 4 People. 4 Wheels. 10,000 miles.
and a WHOLE LOT of CREATIVITY...
http://rawcrossamerica.blogspot.com/2010/12/hi-were-raw.html

Stop in from 7-9 on January 15th at MERCY LOUNGE to see and hear what RAW Nashville is all about! Free of charge, open to the public--the more the merrier, so spread the word!

WHAT IS RAW?
RAW is an independent arts organization. We're based out of Southern California (Los Angeles). RAW hand selects independent talent in film, fashion, music, art, performing art, hair styling, makeup artistry, photography etc. After we've selected the best of the best underground talent in an artistic community we showcase them together in monthly events.

We also showcase the artists online via
www.RAWartists.org and through other viral media and marketing. Our mission is to provide tools and resources for up and comers to promote themselves independently in the marketplace.

WHAT IS RAWcross AMERICA?
For the past 2 years RAW has been operating our monthly showcases in 6 cities across California (Hollywood, Los Angeles, Orange County, Long Beach, San Diego and San Francisco). After the repeated success we set out on a mission to do this outside of our state. We hired and trained the most skilled event producers we could find- and now we're launching in 22 cities nationwide in 2011----INCLUDING RIGHT HERE IN NASHVILLE!

RAWcross AMERICA DOCUMENTARY
On December 29th, our RAW Founders as well as our key videographeand documentary team are driving cross-country to all of the cities we're expanding to. Our videographer is filming the entire experience to complete a RAWcross America Documentary.

and WE WANT TO MEET YOU! Come to our MEET/GREET at MERCY LOUNGE from 7-9pm!

Our Season starts in February!
What can you Expect?
....WHAT IS A RAW SHOWCASE LIKE?
Each RAW showcase is different. A usual night will start off with a cocktail hour and perusing the gallery that stays lit all night. Then you'd watch short film screening, see a musical performance (band), then a performance art piece (dance troupe or comedian etc) then we go into the fashion show and the cherry on top is the DJ and after party. It is a circus of creativity, cocktails, expression and fun!

Shop & Sip: January 25, 2011

I love the Belcourt Theatre. Late September, I attended the fashionable nD Festival  showcasing the latest designs from fashion heavy hitters Alabama Chanin, Billy Reid, and Imogene + Willie. It was incredible and so much fun. (Read about the event here, or event review here.)

I have seen so many wonderful films at the indie theatre, including the very fashionable Coco Before Chanel, starring the exquisite Audrey Tautou as a young Gabrielle. I about lost myself after watching Valentino: The Last Emperor shortly after moving to Nashville.

The Belcourt is dynamic and has more character than most theatres in Nashville. I have a soft spot in my heart for the Belcourt. And apparently, so does Stacey Rhodes, owner of Stacey Rhodes boutique.
Rhodes will be hosting Shop & Sip, a fashionable event where 10% of all proceeds will benefit the Belcourt Theatre. The event will be held January 25, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Stacey Rhodes Boutique in Brentwood (144 Franklin Road). Here are the details according to the Facebook invite:

The Oscar® nominations will be announced on the morning of January 25th. Join us for wine & shopping that evening at Stacey Rhodes Boutique in Brentwood (144 Franklin Road) to continue all the buzz about the nominees. 10% of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to The Belcourt. Stacey & her staff are SURE to make you red carpet ready! It’s a perfect chance to get your dress or accessories for Oscar Night ® America at The Belcourt theatre (2/27). You can also purchase something for Valentine’s or just something to make you feel beautiful to beat the winter blues! Event is FREE, but donations to The Belcourt will be accepted.
RSVP to Facebook here. And if you would like to buy me the dress below featured on Stacey Rhodes website, please do. I look good in black and sequins.

Happy 2011, Nashville!!

Happy 2011, Nashville!!

Obviously it’s been a while since my last entry. This latest holiday break is literally the only two weeks of the year I don’t have work or school (with a mismatched work/school schedule, every time I get a break from work, it’s time for school finals week L), so I decided to really take some time off. I spend the last two weeks recuperating from an insanely hectic year by spending some quality time at home, reading, shopping, sipping wine with friends, and watching more bad movies than I’d like to admit. But now it’s back to the grind of my daily life and a return to Nashville Fashion Blog!
New Years is always a time for new beginnings and resolutions to change for the better. My fashion resolution this year is to do more! That’s it, and it’s that simple. Get out more. Explore more. Make more connections. Attend more events. Have more fashion fun. It’s easy to get bogged down by the every day. I’ll be the first to admit that after a long day of work and homework looming at the end of the night, the idea of dolling myself up to attend a fashion show or event party isn’t exactly appealing. But it’s important to muster up the fashionista side of myself to get out there more in our darling city. There are still boutiques I’ve never been to and more I can do to get both myself and my students involved in local happenings. Contribution to the growth and development of the Nashville fashion scene can be done by everybody, but it can only be done by a unity of the masses. I challenge you this year to get out, do more, make more connections, and have fun. I’ve got some exciting things planned…. get ready.
