Casting Call: Confident Couture Membership Auditions, September 8-9, 2010

Confident Couture will be hosting a modeling audition, cleverly named ‘Stomp 2 The Death’, September 8th at 7:00 pm and September 9th at 9:00 pm. The auditions will be held at Austin Peay University in the Foy Center upstairs / Clement auditorium.

Interviews will be held September 8th and auditions September 9th. Both are required for membership consideration. A $10 fee is required as well as 3” and up heels for women and hard bottom dress shoes for men.

Fashion Industry Mixer / Model Call: September 29, 2010

If you’re a fashion designer, model, hairstylist, makeup artist, wardrobe stylist, photographer, boutique owner, event planner, dj, or pretty much anyone who has anything to do with the fashion industry, Kosher Taco Productions and Manuel Exclusive Clothier invite you to Southern Fashion Week – Fashion Mixer and Model Call. The event takes place September 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Manuel Exclusive Clothier (1922 Broadway). An entry fee was not listed on the event website.


According to the event page, this night “will be casting for models, registering designers, and completing photographer& media registration for Southern Fashion Week 2010”.

Nashville model/singer/songwriter Sammi Moore will be performing for the crowd and Manuel Exclusive Clothier will also be raffling off rhinestone t-shirts, photoshoots, fashion spa packages, jewelry, and more.

Fashion Week Nashville: Postponed until November

A Fall Frenzy Fashion Show Presented by the Art Institute of Tennessee-Nashville: September 16, 2010

The Fashion & Retail Management students at the Art Institute of Tennessee-Nashville have been diligently planning and organizing a dynamic fashion show for months. The show is designed to create awareness of the Nashville fashion industry as well as serving as a chance to exhibit the students’ creative talents and network with others in the creative industries.


Held at the Scarritt-Bennett Raintree Room (located at 1008 19th Ave. South Nashville, TN) doors open at 7:00 and the show begins at 8:00. Tickets cost $5 and 100% of proceeds will benefit Nashville-based Souls4Soles, a charity that distributes shoes to persons in need worldwide. Shoe bins will be set up for individuals who want to donate old shoes. A dynamic photobooth will be set up and popular Nashville DJ Kevin Perryman will be spinning tracks. The runway will be set up with a hand-built fall theme and is sure to wow and impress the audience. Industry professionals and Nashville fashionistas will be a few of the individuals in attendance. Gift bags will be handed out to the first 50 guests!

The show will feature collections from Pangea, Damaris' Way Jewelry, Muse Boutique, and more. Other partners include Casablanca Modeling Agency, Paul Mitchell: The School, Kiss My Face, Cosmetic Market, Noshville, Wholesale Jewelers, Nashville Lifestyles, Café Coco, Skin Bar, Lightning 100, Reignfall Designs, and more.

THE ART INSTITUTE OF TENNESSEE-NASHVILLE FASHION & RETAL MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT WILL BE PRODUCING A FASHION SHOW AT THE SCARRIT-BENNETT CENTER – THE RAINTREE ROOM

Prospective students, family and friends, and fellow fashion lovers are invited to support the fashion program of The Art Institute of Tennessee-Nashville, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, at the Fall Frenzy Fashion Show on Thursday, September 16.

The Fall Frenzy Fashion Show will be from 7:00pm – 10:00pm on Thursday, September 16, at the Scarritt-Bennett Center in the Raintree Room at 1008 19th Ave. South. Doors open at 7:00 and the show starts at 8:00. It is open to the public for $5.00. All proceeds from the fashion show will benefit Soles4Souls (www.giveshoes.org), a charity that provides shoes for those in need.

This fashion show is the first fashion show completely put together by the fashion students themselves to display their creative talents and network with others in the creative industries.

Brides Against Breast Cancer - Tour of Gowns: September 11, 2010

I can’t say that bridal events thrill me. The idea of being dragged through an exposition center filled with poofy gowns, bad djs, over-priced catering, and Sandals vacations isn’t exactly how I want to spend my Saturday. Maybe I’ve got the always-the-bridesmaid-but-never-the-bride syndrome, but I’m just not a fan. HOWEVER, when it comes to charity events and breast cancer awareness, I am always on board.


The Vanderbilt Breast Center One Hundred Oaks is partnering with Brides Against Breast Cancer during their Nationwide Tour of Gowns. The event will take place September 11 – 13th at the Nashville Airport Marriott. A schedule of events is listed below.

This charity wedding gown sale will feature hundreds of name brand and designer wedding gowns donated by designers, retailers, manufacturers and some individuals with prices at $199 and up. Sponsored with twesa and the Marriott, sales will benefit the educational programs and wish grant funds of Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation.

Naked Without Us in Knoxville: September 3, 2010

The fashion rock fest Naked Without Us is expanding its horizons and will have its first show in Knoxville, TN tomorrow. The following is an excerpt from MetroMix Nashville:

Nashville's fashion and rock show Naked Without Us will be coming to orange country for a show benefiting the Boys and Girl's Club of The Tennessee Valley. Knoxville venue 90 Proof will be hosting the Naked Without Us show on Friday, Sept. 3, showcasing Nashville's music and fashion during the first Vols home game weekend.


The show will include a variety of designers and music acts. Nashville-based bands Space Capone, Loose Cougar, Born Empty and The Worsties along with DJ Nu-Mark from Jurassic 5. Naked Without Us will feature a local opener from Knoxville.

Fashion designers Valentine Valentine, Courtney Button, Only50 and Broke Shipley will have their clothes modeled on stage with the performing musicians, for a simultaneous fashion show/rock concert experience.

Knoxville-based boutiques Elle Boutique and Obligato Boutique will be highlighted in the show along with their models and designs.

Naked Without Us' Billy Gimmill wants the fashion-rock blend event to be a community-driven experience that showcases Nashville talent to a new crowd and brings Knoxville's local talent together.

A portion of the proceeds from the show will go to The Boys and Girls Club of The Tennessee Valley. The proceeds will benefit the art and education programs for underprivileged youth. Naked Without Us is being promoted by UT's Kappa Delta sorority, and 10% of their money raised will go back to The Boys and Girls Club.

The show will be kicking off Friday at 9 p.m. with a $10 cover at the door, $7 with student I.D. Naked Without Us is an 18-and-up event. Come early and enter to win a chance to score tickets to the football game the following night.
