All American Designer Charles Nolan Dies At Age 53 In NYC & The Legacy He Left Behind

Charles Nolan, a native New Yorker, Charles Nolan’s subtle luxury, attention to details with touch of the All Americana Hamptons Chic, has put him on the map of the American fashion world.

After apprenticing with Bill Blass and Christian Dior, among others, Nolan joined Ellen Tracy in 1990, becoming its chief designer and taking it from a well regarded clothing manufacturer to a significantly more successful fashion label. By the time he left in 2001, Ellen Tracy had been number one in its market for six years. Recognizing his talent, the parent of Anne Klein, about to enter bankruptcy, hired Nolan to rejuvenate its line & saved Anne Klein from bankruptcy.

Valentino Spring 2011 Haute Couture – A Parade of Ethereal Goddess Fabulousness

The house of Valentino by Maria Grazia Chiuri & Pier Paolo Piccioli have wow us again with their spring 2011 Couture show. This time, they wanted to break away any pas restraints of what should or should not be a ladylike couture show and did it their way. “We just wanted to remove all heaviness, the idea is that the dress are so light, they almost become part of the woman herself” said by Piccioli & Chiuri.

The whole collection is so soft, delicate with hand pressed pleating on the ruffles, butterfly chokers around the neck, soft ribbon details… the whole collection is like watching ethereal Goddesses, magical fairies parade down the runway! I just love it how ladylike they looked but with tons of sensuality, too!

Chanel Makeup Robot Power Activate! by Peter Philips

I call upon the power of CHANEL's CC logo, activate!! Chanel's global creative director of Makeup division Peter Philips has came up with this innovated Ad Campaign, conceptualize this stop motion video built from a bunch of lipsticks, compacts, glosses & brushes... it's just genius!

D&G Spring Summer 2011 AD Campaign - It's Time For Spring Fun!

I just saw these photos of D&G Spring Summer 2011 AD Campaign, it puts me in a good mood right away! Vibrant colors & prints on the clothing, accessories in a totally youthful & cheerful styling, makes you wanna put all of your winter stuff away into the storage and ready for the spring! Love it!

Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2011 Haute Couture Show – Where British Punk Rock Meets Paris Moulin Rouge Cancan Girl Chic

I’ve been inlove with Monsieur Gaultier’s creations ever since he started his design house. Ever since that famous “Cone shape bra” he designed for Madonna, he has never let us down with each new collection he presented, and as usual; his spring 2011 couture show was a jaw dropping sensation!

The theme was Britsh punk meets Paris cancan girl! Yes, you’ve heard it right! The total 2 opposite kind of girl & looks, it can only be achieve by a genius such a Jean Paul Gaultier to make it work together and look fabulous. He mixed the signature punk rock look of Mohawks, metal studs embellishments & leather jackets, married them with the girls of Moulin Rouge costumes such as ruffles, laced up bustier & their sensuality also with a touch of the bohemian prints, it equals to a “Très Français” sophistication collection.

CHANEL Spring 2011 Couture Show - Enchantment of Lights

When it comes to Haute Couture, it means made to order clothing that only the best fabric, craftsmanship & embellishments are used to create these one of the kind garments that only the best designer houses can mastered! and since money is no object to create these garments, designers usually use massive amount of fabrics plus heavy beadings & embroideries on couture dresses. But at CHANEL Spring 2011 show, we've seen the "Light" !

This collection is so luminous in its delicacy & sparkle, every pieces looks like a spring garden fairy outfit! But don't let the meaning of "Light" fools you & think they all must be just simple chiffon or cotton garments without the extravagance of Couture touches! 10 million beads & sequins were used in this collection! (Clutch my pearls! I just LOVE sparkles!) The opening first couple looks has this "Morning dew on spider webs" kind of delicate bead works on the shoulder, side of the dress.... it was just heavenly! Also all the models were wearing ballet flat shoes, with the chiffon flowing & big airy skirts, it almost has a ballerina feels throughout the collection. At the end of the show, when the curtain on the end of the runway lift up, all the models were standing on top of the stpes of a simulacrum of the iconic Rue Cambon Salon, just like how Madame CHANEL presented her show back in the days. It was a beautiful show, I love it!

Here are some of the best looks from the show

Giorgio Armani Privé Spring 2011 Collection – Haute Couture Meets Sci-Fi 《 Tron Legacy 》 Fantasy

Couture fantasy fashion & Sci-Fi movies are two of my passion in life, and when I saw Armani Privé Spring 2011 Collection, I love it immediately! I’ve heard some other fashion editors all not happy about what they saw from this show & said “ Oh! It’s too Lady Gaga! And it totally doesn’t even look like the usual Armani style… blah blah blah”. For me, I think it’s fabulous for a designers who are as well known & famous as Giorgio Armani to take a chance and be inspired by whatever that inspired him & create something utterly fabulous that is so not the “usual” Minimalistic, quiet elegance & muted neutral color Armani style, It takes courage & a great vision to make that leap! And for that, I give him a big applause!

For me, the whole show has the hit movie “Tron Legacy” futuristic feel to it! The unexpected combination of intricate beading mixing with the high-tech slick silk nylon type of fabrics in neon colors, the structured cuts & shapes of each garment is just screams Couture ! This collection transports us into the future and offers us a glimpse of the Future Couture.

Christian Dior Spring 2011 Haute Couture Show Pays Tribute To The Beauty of René Gruau Fashion Illustrations

I am so in love with Dior's Spring 2011 Couture show! It was inspired by Monsieur Christian Dior's favorite fashion illustrator René Gruau. He was famous his fabulous Ad campaigns back in the 1950s for House of Dior, glamorous yet minimal brush strokes, just a dash, swift, decisive strokes of gouache, charcoal & pen, it captures of all the beautiful embroidery, shapes of Monsieur Dior's creations.

A Charmingly Unique & One-of-a-Kind Boutique - Creators Co-Op

I love finding those special shops that sells one of the kind, artisan hand crafted stuff when I travel. Like the Saint-Germain-des-Prés Neighborhood in Paris, or finding one of those hard to find hand-bounded books at those charming bookstores at Notting Hill in London and I just recently discovered this uniquely charming store in Astoria, New York area name “Creators’ Co-Op” !

Unlike any of those typical stores that sells well know designer brands or mass market boring item, This charming & vibrant store offers up one of the kind, hand-made unique items from various artists & designers, which it’s perfectly reflects the name of the store “Creators’ Co-Op”! The owner of the store Kazuki Kozuru-Salifoska said ~ “ This is a place for participating artists & designers to present their artisan creations – from fashion, accessories, handmade organic lotions & soap, jewelries, baby clothing to sculptures, all in a Co-Operative style venue. “ and I think it’s a genius idea!

Here are some of the fabulous designers & their artisan creations at the store….
